Research Summary

Associate professor Chen’s research focuses on antimicrobial pharmacodynamics, especially the activities against drug-resistant bacteria, screening of bioactive substances from microorganisms andmicrobial quality controlof pharmaceuticals. The group members include two teachers ChenXiangdong , WangHui, and six graduate students. Our lab has been engaged in antibacterial drug evaluation and screening since 1996.Weestablished clinical isolatesplatforms for antibacterial screening and high throughput screening assay for β-lactamase inhibitor. We have been doing antibacterial activity research both extra-cellular and intracellular, in Vitro and in vivo. The new antimicrobial agents we have studied included category I new drugs such as ceftazidime/tazobactam, L-ornidazole, YF-13 (fluoroquinolones), and category III new drugs such as rufloxacin hydrochloride, sitafloxacin, aspoxicillin sodium, tebipenem pivoxil, etc. The pharmacodynamic research and data processing work for SFDA new drug application were fulfilled. Our lab maintains long-term cooperation with many enterprises and research institutes such as  antibacterial screening of pleuromutilin compounds with Shanghai Pharmaceutical Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences, anti-Helicobacter pyloricompound NT09 with Neptunus Company, microbial quality control with Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group.
